ACTNOW KENYA stands for Actions for Climate Transformation with Nature Observation and Wellbeing in Kenya. We are youth-led, community-rooted organization connecting people, nature and livelihoods across northern Kenya’s Mukogodo ecosystem.
Our Story
ACTNOW KENYA started as a platform for young people to dialogue on climate justice and conservation issues affecting their communities. As these conversations grew, it became clear that dialogue alone was not enough—the challenges demanded practical, locally driven action.Today, we work with communities across the Mukogodo Ecosystem on environmental restoration, climate action, sustainable food systems, and opportunities for women and youth.Our approach builds on local resources, community-led solutions and human-centered design, while encouraging the mindset shifts needed to turn local ideas into lasting action.

The ACTNOW Approach
We believe lasting solutions begin with communities. We start with people and what they already have. We listen to communities, understand their realities and work with them to shape practical solutions that fit their context.
Community-Led Solutions and Mindset Shift
We work with communities to identify priorities, shape solutions and lead action. We create space for people to challenge assumptions, explore new possibilities and see themselves as capable of driving change.
Local Resources
We look first at what is already available—local knowledge, skills, relationships, materials and natural resources—and build from there.
Human-Centered Design for Impact
We design programs around people’s experiences, needs and aspirations. Through listening, learning and adapting, we develop solutions that are relevant, practical and responsive to the people they are intended to serve.
